Young Turks the Book

abb8d250fca0bbe69a8d7010.LFor die-hard “Young Turks” fans, the paperback book published by Linda Frye Burnham and Astro Artz Publishing in 1981 is still available from online sources. Here is a link to the Amazon listing, but several other book stores also have copies for sale, and it is on the shelf at the L.A. Public Library downtown.

The book is a transcription of the original rough-cut of the film shown at the Downtown Drive-In in 1981. There are radical differences between the book and the recently released re-edit. But the book has a very interesting preface written by art critic Joan Hugo, and it includes all the “glamour” photographs of the Young Turks (seen in the “where are they now” end titles of the re-edit) that Monique Safford shot just for the book.

angelTonight (Feb. 11), “Young Turks” will screen at 5 and 7 p.m. at the Downtown Independent, 251 S. Main St. (between 2nd & 3rd), L.A. 90012. Angel City Brewery is offering $3 pints of their delicious beer, and “Young Turks” T-shirts and Party Boys CDs will be for sale between shows. Tickets
